CORELLE BRANDS
For more than 100 years, Corelle Brands has been making cookware that graces tables around the world. With a portfolio that includes Pyrex, Corelle Glass, CorningWare, Snapware, and Visions Cookware, chances are, you’ve eaten off a piece they made and you’ve had a meal made in one of their pieces too.
THE CHALLENGE
Corelle Brands had a complex legacy integration that included a shared cart across their 5 separate brands. Each brand had a unique brand landing page, product landing pages and product detail pages all hosted on Drupal. The cart, checkout, and my account pages were hosted on Salesforce Commerce Cloud which made this tech stack cumbersome and expensive.
Corelle was interested in exploring alternative solutions to unify their tech stack and reduce the heavy recurring charges for the two major platforms they were using. They also had a huge number of expensive 3rd party subscriptions they wanted to remove or replace, they wanted to reduce support costs, and they wanted a new site built with a mobile first approach.
“We were dealing with two systems, meaning at the end of the day the sites functioned, but it was a nightmare from a support point of view.”
To prove Shopify's capabilities to Corelle, DemandPDX provided a functioning, vision inspired demo, of the Corelle suite of all 5 sites on Shopify Plus. This was done in less than a week, using the DemandPDX DemandOne theme.
“For the first few minutes of the demo,” says Anir, “I thought I was looking at our existing sites, because the build was so functional. For DemandPDX to have built that demo in such a short period of time was proof that you can do things very quickly on Shopify—especially when partnered with a high-quality agency.”
For both Corelle and DemandPDX, Shopify Plus was the clear winner. Anir put a business case together for his higher-ups, highlighting the savings and the platforms ease of use, and within 5 minutes, they said "Approved".
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
What started out as a plan to lift and shift all functionality and user experiences from the Corelle Brands 5 legacy websites into Shopify, turned into a soft redesign with a focus on improving the consumer experience and leveraging the DemandPDX DemandOne theme.
ALL-IN-ONE PLATFORM
With Shopify, there was no more piecing systems together. We streamlined functionality all in Shopify Plus with minor customizations. No more expensive, time-intensive upgrades were needed. The brand was now able utilize a mobile-first approach and offer Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and other APMs.
“Data migration is never just about moving information—it's about bridging the gap between systems, ensuring integrity, and delivering results. Successfully migrating Salesforce product data into Shopify was like navigating a labyrinth of complexity, where every step counts toward a seamless e-commerce transformation.”
DATA MIGRATION
To streamline this process, the DemandSync tool was used to get content on the new site quickly by importing product descriptions, metadata, images, prices, inventory and product variations. It also got the site ready for launch by importing past orders, customers, and existing coupon codes.
DATA SYNCHRONIZATION
To preserve critical back-end system integrations, DemandSync was also used to seamlessly convert Shopify data into Salesforce-compatible formats. This innovative solution allowed our client to continue using all their other platforms, and existing data structures with little to no changes to them.
VENDOR INTEGRATIONS
The re-platforming process involved integrating numerous third-party applications and services that Corelle relies on for daily operations. DEMAND ensured that all integrations were fully functional and optimized for Shopify Plus.
“Integrations with third party vendors are generally easier with Shopify, and can sometimes be implemented by anyone in the company using the Shopify admin portal. Per transaction fees are often reduced or eliminated as well which resulted in significant savings for Corelle.”
CONCLUSION
Customers quickly noticed the improved shopping experience, from a faster site to easier navigation. The re-platforming immediately led to higher conversion rates, higher average over value and improved customer satisfaction. The launch of Corelle Brands and its supporting brands Pyrex, Chicago Cutlery, Snapware and Corningware on Shopify Plus was a major success.
- Drupal and Salesforce fees were replaced with a single fee from Shopify.
- 3rd party vendors subscription fees were reduced almost immediately.
- An easier to use platform led to more efficient use of employees.
- A more efficient platform allowed for quicker innovation in the kitchenware industry.
For Corelle, the benefits extend beyond the immediate customer experience. The move to Shopify Plus, orchestrated by DEMAND, has provided the brand with a more agile and cost-effective platform, enabling them to respond more rapidly to market trends and consumer demands. This positions Corelle and its associated brands for sustained growth and success in the competitive ecommerce landscape.
